“Music is the universal language of humankind.”

International Academy - LEAP is in its 5th year of offering music classes to all students!

Open to all students music class allows for the exploration of music aurally, visually, and physically.  The classes are designed to explore basic music theory, history, performance, and composition.

Students have the opportunity to study musical styles and musicians from around the world and here in the Twin Cities. Field trips will be offered to possibly see operas, musicals, symphonic concerts, world music concerts, jazz concerts and other musical performances.

In the classroom students actively listen to and respond to music.  Students learn to read music, create and play rhythms, play the recorder, sing, play the guitar, and play the piano.  The opportunities to learn to play the flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, electric guitar, bass guitar, and drum set also exist in Band Class.

At the end of the semester students get the opportunity to perform in front of the whole school for their family and friends in a concert.
