#4: Prove/Proof Nov. 12-16 Sponsor: Carmen Herea
The students need to find the error in the proof for 1dollar  | | Find the mistake in this proof. Ask a math teacher if you don't know. You can ask also Amer Ahmed Abdulah because he knows where is the mistake. | = 1 cent money disappearing challenge. The winner gets one dollar the rest of the students who bring a tentative of proof will get one cent and hopefully all of them will have fun trying to solve the problem. I placed the poster on our Word of the Week wall in front of the Office, so students can see it as they come to school in the morning.Other departments  | | The Word of the Week | will do activities with PROVE so the students will have a better understanding of how to use the word in a variety of situations.
The front door TV will have the PROVE slide to remind the students about the word of the week. Additional Goofy Proof Problems such as the one that proves 2=1 will be posted in the Math Department Alley on the first floor at  | | Tran, Thanh Phuoc -The winner | LEAP the whole week, so the students will have fun solving them waiting for the buses at the end of the day.
Enjoy and if you can prove me wrong, you get one dollar for the problem posted in front of the Office.

The  | | Ms. Lissick solution for the proof | winner of the money disappearing challenge is Tran, Thanh Phuoc. Also Mrs. Sophorn Lissick found the error in the proof of $1=1 cent. They received the 1 dollar prize each, and the rest of the participants received a notebook for participating. Miss. Elizabeth got 10 cents for her nice try.
Some  | | Ms. Carol Quest's class | of the activities that took place in other classrooms:
Ms. Carol Quest's students updated the Word Wall in their classroom with the word PROVE that stands out among the other words being on a pink colored paper. Students use same color paper to write sentences using the WOW (word of the week.)
Ms. Sandy's science class updates each week the Word  | | Mr. Sandy's class | of the Week wall with a new Power Point slide and they give examples of how they use the word in science. PROVE was a really good word for science or math.
Mr. Paul Gore's students had a great time in Library Skills class using the word PROVE in a Geography context.
