Reading
Durring 2007-2008 school year our PLC made it a regular practice to discuss what we were reading and to share any relevant insights about our instructional practices. Throughout the project year, the team read articles related to our projects. Below is a list of the articles and books all of us (or some of us as indicated) have read and discussed.

English Language Learners in the Mathematics Classroom by Caggins et al (2007) (Math teachers, Susan & Carmen, read it and gave us brief summaries.)

“Getting Beyond the Buzzwords: Professional Learning Communities in the Saint Paul Public Schools” & “What is a ‘Professional Learning Community,’” both are handouts from coaches meeting.
“A framework for disciplinary literacy in middle and high schools” by Institute for Learning.
In addition, Margaret gave summary reports and handouts of several paper presentations on “High School Reform: Issues and Innovations” from the TESOL Convention, in which she participated in New York City in March 2008.
